Telephone furniture

Angelin

Angelin (or Angelino) is a first name of Italian origin. Angelin tends to have a passionate character. He is determined and daring. Sometimes easily irritated, he is reliable and loyal. This description fits well with its owner, Angelina, a young girl with character as they say! She wanted a bedside table with a seat for her teenage bedroom. And she found just the thing! An old piece of telephone furniture, refurbished in the colours of her bedroom. It was sitting in a cellar in Solliès-ville, a small town in the Var department. The seat has also been completely redone (inside and out) in a romantic old pink velvet. The cushion has removable covers.

Desk

Victorin

From the Latin Victor means ‘winner’. It won the heart of someone who adopted it to brighten up her home. This lovely desk was picked up from someone who moved from Alsace to be with her family in the centre of the Var. It had been sleeping in a nook and cranny, just waiting to express its softness.

Small furniture

Eugénie
This pretty name comes from the Greek eugenios, meaning ‘well-born’. Eugénie is bold. This is certainly the case with this little piece of entrance or occasional furniture that has found a home in Jacques' home. Eugénie had been sleeping in a garage in Hyères and its former owner is delighted that it has found a second life. It was accompanied by its little box of secrets.

Art Deco chest of drawers

Aglaë

This is Aglaë, a name of Greek origin. It's close to “aglaïa”, which means “beauty”. Isn't she a beauty? It was made of chestnut veneer, which was badly damaged. A lot of work, and here's the result! This 1920s art-deco dressing table comes from the Salins district of Hyères. I picked it up from its owner's great-granddaughter. It was a wedding present. Its rounded forms make it majestic. It comes with its matching box.

Chest of 3 drawers

Yvette

Meet Yvette. This little chest of drawers belonged to a Yvette from Le Lavandou and I thought this old name was very pretty. Yvette comes from the Celtic ‘yv’ meaning ‘yew, shrub’. It exudes a feeling of strength, balance and serenity that is reassuring. In the end, it's perfect for her! Its chequered top reflects the strength of solid oak.

Little furniture

Rémi

This piece of occasional furniture has found its niche. Its originality? The drawer and shelf are discreetly placed to one side... You can put a book at the end of the sofa, or a cup of tea or coffee next to your bed in the morning. Its legs are protected by attractive brass rings. It has been sanded, protected by a hard bottom and a checker. It used to sit at the back of a fisherman's hut in La Seyne sur Mer. Here he is in daylight, and what a sweetheart he is. He's handsome and helpful. And yes, that's Rémi. It's made of solid cherry wood, with decorations in wax and natural burnt umber pigment. It has been protected with a varnish.

Furniture

Félix
Meet Félix, a Latin name meaning lucky, happy. Will he have the chance to make someone happy? He was found in Carqueiranne, a small seaside town in the Var department. It had been used as a TV cabinet and had large holes in the back. To revive it, we had to put some reinforcing wooden plates on the back, giving it back its original appearance. The ironwork is original. They have been cleaned to give them an aged metal look. Félix can be used to store crockery, linen, books or simply homemade jam.

Theophile
This is Théophile, from the Greek theos meaning ‘God’ and philien meaning ‘to love’. A small two-door, one-drawer art-deco piece of furniture from Bandol, it used to sit in a corner of the dining room at the end of the chaise longue. Adorned with its flowers and black marble plaque, it is beautifully decorated in black on the inside and back to show off all its magnificence. The sinuous grain of the wood gives it both a solid and soft appearance. To evoke the Roaring Twenties, gold ornaments have been discreetly placed in the drawer and the gold handles evoke the spirit of the era.

Chest

Joseph

50s/60s chest Let me introduce you to Joseph. He slept in a room on the top floor of a village house in Valletta under a ladder. It was waiting to be discovered and brought up to date. Initially, it had a wicker decoration on its facade but time and use made it necessary to remove it. The canework placed instead suits it perfectly. A reminder of canework on the stone-colored top gives it a friendly look. Apart from this change, Joseph has retained all of its original elements including its background and back. The compass feet are also original. Discreet, Joseph will be careful with what you entrust to him because he is very attached to order. Wood: Light oak Dimensions: H 44 – L 86.5 – D 36.5 cm Painting and finishing: Satinelle Pierre Eléonore Déco – Matt Glazier Eléonore Déco

Art Deco chest of drawers

Léopold

This is Léopold. This Art Deco chest of drawers comes from Le Beausset. It belonged to its previous owner's grandfather. When I retrieved it and installed it in the workshop, I looked at it and noticed that it had a lovely light oak wood underneath its stain and varnish. Left in its natural state, it was finished with Libéron's feather white finish on the inside of the drawers. The hardware is original.

Mustache foot bedside table

Philemon

The name Philemon is inspired by the Greek words philein and monos, which translate as "to love" and "alone." By extension, this name is linked to the meaning of "unique friend." It can also mean "one who loves the moon" in another interpretation. A name that fits well with this unique Art Deco bedside table from the late 1920s. It comes from the Brignoles recycling center in central Var, where it sat in a corner, all alone, but unique.

Wood: Oak

Dimensions: L 60 x W 37 x H 62

Color: Flemish gray from Liberon (casein paint) Finish: Colorless wax from Liberon

Two doors sideboard

Here's Firmin, a first name from the beginning of the last century, like this pretty two-door. This name suits him perfectly, because the Firmins are firm in their convictions. Firmin is convinced that he will find his new family. He spent his life in a house in Le Revest, a neighborhood west of Toulon. He was part of a house clearance. Sitting at the back of the shed of a 1900s house, I saw him and immediately fell in love with him. His pretty flowers and flower basket evoke spring. We'll be there soon, in fact! Adorned with flowers on its fronts, it is beautifully dressed in white. What's special about it? It can be used as a counter to separate a room because its back can be exposed. Dressing table - entrance furniture

Eulalie

This 1940s solid blond oak dressing table has traveled extensively. It followed its owner on her travels around the Mediterranean and ended its life in Six-Fours. Like all the gems I offer, it has undergone a meticulous renovation: cleaning, scraping, sanding, wood treatment, and application of a matte varnish. The original red-veined marble was broken. It was replaced with a much softer shade of pink and gray. Its original ornamentation has been cleaned.

Dimensions: Length: 123 cm Depth: 35 cm Height of the elements on each side of the mirror: 73 cm Maximum height of the mirror in the center: 154 cm Width of the mirror: 54 cm

TABLE (small)

Marthe
Meet Martha. The name Martha is of Aramaic origin and means ‘lady, mistress of the house’. It suits her very well! This little side table was in the kitchen of an elderly lady who had come down to finish her life in sunny Toulon. It's made from solid oak and has a secret drawer on the side (invisible because there's no handle). White softens the curves. It has been sanded, treated and protected. The top still has a few minor flaws due to its age, but this in no way detracts from its charm.

Wood: oak

Dimensions (in cm) : L 100 - W 62 (at widest point of top) - H 71

Colours : Feather white - Liberon paint

Finish : Clear Liberon wax
